Is life tough for you at the moment? Are you struggling to find answers or perhaps you are seeking guidance? This could be due to bereavement, family dynamics, relationships problems, financial or social pressures. All of which can impact our mental health.
Welcome to my counselling page.
It is not easy to reach out and you have already taken the first steps.
Continue to read to see how I can help support you and get in touch if you would like a free initial consultation.
I believe each of us have the knowledge within to know what we need but sometimes life happens and everything gets mixed up leaving us struggling to cope. This may be as a result of past trauma, loss, fear or anxiety.
Maybe you have a sense of sadness without knowing why or are wanting to find a new direction in life. Whatever it is, I can offer you a supportive, non-judgemental, safe and confidential space where you will be heard and valued. I will work alongside you, guiding you to explore what is going on for you, helping you to heal and to understand yourself more.
My name is Dawn and I am warm and compassionate counsellor. I have always enjoyed working with people and have seen first-hand the struggles that people face. Life experience has shown me how much it can help to have someone to talk through our struggles and to gain a clearer perspective. This drove me to train as a counsellor and has led me to where I am today. As well as my private practice I also work with Bereavement service who deals with complex and traumatic grief. I also have over 25 years experience working in animal welfare and understand the bonds we have with out pets.
I strive to be the best counsellor I can be and this means continuing to educate myself through further and continual learning. I have experience working with complex grief, bereavement, trauma, relationship problems, pet bereavement, family issues, anxiety and depression.
I am a integrative counsellor which means that I have trained in different counselling modalities, allowing me to adapt my skills to each individual I meet. I believe we have at least four parts of self which are mind, body, emotion and soul. When these parts of self are connected we experience a greater sense of wellbeing.
Through my approach I hope to bring greater awareness to these different parts and explore what these parts are saying (for example, what does our mind tell us that is different to what our heart says). I recognise we are all different and not one size fits all.
I will adjust my way of working to suit you to help you explore how you can move forward. Along with talking we can also explore other ways of working which could include getting creative.
